  • Today gave me hope….today….

Not that it matters, but today Mrs. Maggie and I were married – ten years ago. So I decided to make a meal, home made, that she has wanted for a while (we have already made plans to go out for dinner on Sunday) – so I went to the local grocery. I bought the required fish, mushrooms, etc. and went to check out. I reached the counter and started pouring my goods over the scanner – when I received a small “rebuke” – “Hello”. Hello startled me, I am not used to hearing that (common courtesy is hard to come by)…..now the girl was not obnoxious – I could see that in her eyes. I was in the wrong. I was rude.

The fact that his young girl had manners – gave me hope. And made me reflect.

Uhhh. You've been in New York/New Jersey way too long if you have set the bar for success for humanity on a "Hello" from a checker at a grocery store.

Here in the midwest I pretty much always have a friendly exchange with the checkers. Smiles, "How are ya?", "Nice weather" ... I get all of that regularly.
Kung Wu say, man who read woman like book, prefer braille!

That is the point. I get it all the time back in Wichita (so much so it annoys bothers my wife) - here not so much.
